Public Spaces Protection Order consultation

A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is made under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014. It means that anti-social behaviour may be dealt with by the issuing of a £100 Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) by a Police Officer, Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and District Council Enforcement staff.

The District Council’s current PSPO expires 9th October 2025 and includes restrictions / controls, in various public parks and open spaces throughout the Dales

A Public Spaces Protection Order consultation exercise is taking place 7th July to 17th August which includes:-

  • Prohibition of open fires and BBQs (consultation commences 7th July)
  • Prohibit dog fouling (consultation commences 21st July)
  • Impose restrictions on the walking or exercise of dogs (consultation commences 21st July)
  • Prohibit the consumption of alcohol (consultation commences 21st July)
  • Prohibit parking & driving (consultation commences 21st July)
