Equality Objectives
The Equality Act 2010 includes the Public Sector Equality Duty, which applies to public sector organisations such as the District Council. This duty requires the District Council to publish equality objectives every four years.
Our Equality Objectives for 2024 – 2028 reflect the priorities of our Corporate Plan 2024-28:
- To be a Council that listens to and engages fairly and effectively with all Derbyshire Dales communities, including the Council workforce.
- To provide high-quality, equitable, accessible and customer-centred services which understand and meet the needs of all Derbyshire Dales communities.
- To support a thriving environment that can be accessed, enjoyed and appreciated by all Derbyshire Dales residents and visitors.
- To support the provision of housing that meets the needs of all Derbyshire Dales residents, carefully considering the needs of diverse communities and people with protected characteristics.
- To support prosperous and sustainable Derbyshire Dales communities and businesses, which offer opportunities for employment and growth to all residents and visitors, including those with protected characteristics.
Setting specific and measurable objectives helps the District Council meet the Equality Act aims of:
- Eliminating discrimination, harassment and victimisation
- Advancing equality of opportunity between all persons
- Fostering good relations between all persons
Equalities Action Plan 2024-26
Our Equalities Objectives and Action Plan 2024-26 spells out our Equalities Objectives for the next two years and details the actions we plan to take each year to achieve them.
