Parking charges apply to blue badge holders however, they are given an extra hour on top of what they have paid for.
New - 30 minutes free - From 1st April 2025
In some Derbyshire Dales District Council car parks, we will be offering a 30-minute free parking (extended to 1 hour for Blue Badge Holders) from 1 April 2025.
These car parks are listed below:
- Clifton Road, Ashbourne
- Bus Station, Ashbourne
- Shawcroft, Ashbourne
- Granby Road, Bakewell
- Market Place, Bakewell
- Imperial Road, Matlock (M&S)
- Lido, Matlock
- Olde Englishe, Matlock
- Spa Villas, Matlock
- Town Hall Front, Matlock
- Market Place, Wirksworth
- The 30 minute free parking session will be increased to 1 hour for those who display a valid Blue Badge with the free 30 minute ticket, which you will still need to obtain from the payment machine.
- To claim your 30 minutes free parking, you are required get a paper ticket from the machine. This is so parking enforcement officers are made aware of when you arrived, helps to avoid confusion and avoidable parking fines.
- This offer cannot be used to top up a chargeable parking ticket, as it has been specifically created for short stay customers who will be staying no longer than 30 minutes.
- This offer cannot be used to top up the resident’s free concession permit to allow you to park at 2.30pm or arrive at 10.30am.
Blue Badge holders will continue to exercise that right in areas that do not cause obstruction.
There are a number of designated spaces in most of the car parks which are wider for wheelchair access. If the car park you are using has no disabled bays, or if they are full, the blue badge can be used in any pay and display bay.
Your badge must be clearly displayed on the dashboard. Vehicles parked in disabled bays, without clearly displaying valid blue badges may be issued a Penalty Charge Notice.
